What it takes to join
If your school already has a chess club, you already have most of what you need. LCCC turns informal lunchtime clubs into a real competitive season — and we do the administrative work so you don't have to.

What it costs — and what comes back
Entry is $25 per player, per event. The majority of that returns directly to your school's chess program.
Returned to your club for every player you enter — for sets, clocks, travel, or whatever your program needs.
Covers scheduling, pairings, standings, trophies, and running the season. LCCC is a nonprofit; there is no profit taken.
Fee waivers are available for any student for whom the entry fee is a barrier — ask us, no questions asked. No school should sit out over $25.

How to join
Email us that you're interested
Write to chessrocklin@gmail.com with your school name and who the advisor will be. A student can start this — we'll loop the advisor in.
We place you in a pod
We'll tell you which regional pod you fall into, who hosts it, and the two weekend dates you'd be playing. See the current pods and the season calendar.
Clear it with your school
Most advisors run this past their principal or activities director. We'll give you a one-page summary you can forward — including who supervises students and how the fees work.
Name your five and register
Submit your roster in board order — strongest player on Board 1 — and register your players ahead of the first event. Then just show up and play.
Common questions from advisors
No rating or federation membership is required. LCCC standings are institutional — results aggregate to the school, not to individual player ratings. Any student on your roster can play.
Events are hosted on member school campuses, and students remain supervised by their own school's staff throughout. The league schedules and administers competition; it does not take custody of students.
Teams bring five sets and five clocks where they can. Host schools keep a league backup supply on hand, so a club short on equipment is never turned away.
Welcome. Middle school programs compete alongside high schools — a middle school won our inaugural championship outright.
If you can field five players, you can compete. You don't need a deep bench or a history of tournament play — plenty of our members are first-year programs.
